Apparently, I shouldn't be allowed to use the wiki.  I thought I was posting to a discussion page related to the above.  But, it turns out, I'm Editing the "Talk" page.

I don't think "stride" belongs in the POSIX section. In fact, I don't think that it belongs on this page at all. My understanding is that stride is used only when using the MPIIO API (-a mpiio).
