Sarp Oral received the M.Sc. degree in biomedical engineering from Cukurova University, Adana, Turkey, in 1996, and the Ph.D. degree in computer engineering from the University of Florida, Gainesville, in 2003. He is currently a Research Scientist with the National Center for Computational Sciences (NCCS), Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), where he is the Task Lead for the File and Storage Systems Research and Development Team with the Technology Integration Group. His current research interests include performance evaluation, modeling, and benchmarking, parallel I/O and file and storage systems, high-performance computing and networking, computer architectures, fault tolerance, and storage technologies.
