2.12.0 Release Update
Peter

  • Things are converging well. Oleg plans to land the big batch that is in master-next later today.
  • RHEL 7.6 came out earlier this week. The expectation is to switch to use that for the 2.12 release.
  • Anyone have anything 2.12 specific to talk about?
    • James: I have been testing on ARM and have seen an issue with lfs find. There is something weird going on with the tools. Has Whamcloud been seeing this?
      • Peter: No, we have just added in builders and just getting into testing.
    • James: The GSS code could be in shape for 2.12, which is LU-8602.
      • Peter: If it becomes ready and reviewed, it can be considered. Sebastian and John would be good reviewers for it.

Upstream Lustre Client
James

  • We have begun the PFL work. The LNet stuff is all the way up to dynamic discovery on the development branch.
  • A whole bunch of missing 2.10 stuff is going through testing.
  • We have found a race/recovery issue that will also apply to 2.12, as it has been hidden for some time.
    • Ruth: We have seen it twice on the test cluster and will try out James’ patch.
    • This is LU-11089.

lustre.org
Ken

  • We are looking into best way to host mailing list archives for retired mailing lists.

Other Business

  • Next LTS Branch
    • Multiple viewpoints on the call were discussed around pros/cons of 2.12 versus 2.13 as the next LTS release. Consensus was reached that it makes sense for the 2.12 release to be the next base version for the LTS stream.
  • Roadmap Update
    • Peter: Is there anything Cray expects to push in the 2.13 or 2.14 timeframe that would be suitable for the graphical roadmap?
    • Cory: Self extending layouts for 2.13 (LU-10070).
    • Peter: Whamcloud activity continues to be in the area of Erasure Coding, but that will be more in the 2.14 timeframe. We think PCC and UDSP will be good for 2.13. We are also looking at automatic directory restriping and IPv6 support but those also are further out.
  • The next meeting will be cancelled due to SC '18.

Next meeting will be on 2018-11-29 at 11:00am Pacific
